People love to know download numbers but I've always stood firm on the ground that active users and user retention are much more powerful and telling statistics. Downloads do play an important role though, so what are they good for? Downloads are great for understanding product launches, user acquisition campaigns, and they help us understand part of an app's growth story. Looking at the whole year of 2017, we determined the top 10 most downloaded apps in the US across six categories; Games, Food & Drink, Finance, Health & Fitness, News & Magazines and Shopping. Enjoy!
